Who would be the audience for your media product?

this is sandy,

she is 23, mixed race female who works at her local police department currently shadowing a chief detective.

she lives in central london and is currently looking to move to florida with her fiance.

in her spare time she loves to go and train on her local track, sometimes even jogging with her dog jeff.

she tends to watch a lot of crime watch, csi , luther and crime related films to further her knowladge and also just for entertainment

she is spontanous in whatever she does, she doesnt plan much before she goes out, the only thing she plans for is work which she takes very seriously.

we have attracted her to watch our film because we joint thriller and crime which allowed us to reach one of her favourite things. she can relate closely with our film especially with her job and the detective she is shadowing. this is a rare case that it would directly fit into someones life perfectly but it works.

previously in tmy target audience post i said the age range would be 16-20, after finising the film i think its suitable to extend it to 35/40  because 20 is too smal of a gap and isnt realistic in a sense that someone older may even have  better interest in it than someone younger

this is jhad,

he is 17, a white male who is about to finish his finals at high school.

he lives in north caronlina  with his parents and grandparents. his grandad served in the navy and his dad works in business while he waants to go pro for basketball

if hes not training for basketball he is playing his ps4, usually gta with his friends

he is very popular at school, he gets good grades, specifically in languages.

he listens to kendrick lamar, kanye west and the migos

he watches cartoons most of the time and if he watches a film it has to be scary or have a creepy back story

hes predictable and will always do the same thing.

we attracted him to watch our film because it is a thriller and he watches scary or creepy story lined films which our film contains traces of e.g lmuder and jump scares. even though he has no relation to crime or thriller he would still enjoy it because of the use of young actors which he can relate to, even though our leads are black he is accepting and would find it quite interesting, he fits my previous age boundry perfectly

went against majority

titles were 2 min which is average for thriller

more so went to majority

win/win - we did fictional

went with majority

used variaty in title sequence , especially chase scenes

went against majority for titles

USING THE INFORMATION I HAVE NOW AND WHAT WE DID BEFORE TO GET A GRASP FOR WHAT THE MAJORITY OF OUR AUDIENCE WOULDN WANT IM CRITISING THE METHOD USED TO GET OUR RESULTS.

1) WE COULD OF HAD A LONGER SURVEY WITH MORE DETAILED QUESTIONS WITH AN OPTION TO EXPAND ON ANSWERS IF DESIRED. FOR EXAMPLE: DO YOU PREFER A THRILLER BASED ON A TRUE STORY OR MORE FICTIONAL? - IF FICTIONAL: A GENERIC STORY, PLOT TWIST, OVEREXAGARATED, OTHER?

2) RATHER THAN ASKING STUDENTS (OUR TARGET AUDIENCE MAJORITY) TO FILL OUT A SURVEY WHICH CAN BE A QUITE TEDIOUS TASK, WE COULD RANDOMLY SELECT GROUPS OF STUDENTS AND INTERVIEW THEM ABOUT THEIR FAVURITE THINGS ABOUT A THRILLER AND GET TO THE DEPTHS OF WHAT THEY REALLY WANT  (MIGHT BE TIME CONSUMING)

3) INSTEAD OF GOING AGAINST THE MAJORITY KNOWING THE RESULTS AND JUST DOING WHAT WE FELT WOULD BE BEST TRY AND REACH A COMPROMISE FOR THOSE THAT WE CAN. FOR EXAMPLE THE SPECIAL EFFECTS QUESTION WOULD BE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO GO WITH MAJORITY AS WE JUST DONT HAVE THE RESOURCES BUT THE  MALE AND FEMALE LEAD QUESTION WE COULD HAVE. (WOULD TAKE AWAY CHALLANGING PREVIOUS MEDIA CONVENTIONS)

4) EVEN THOUGH OUR FILM WAS TO PLEASE OUR TARGET AUDIENCE , I THINK IT WOULD'VE BEEN USEFUL TO ASK A COUPLE PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF THE AGE RANGE AS OUR QUESTIONS WERENT AGE SPECIFIC, THEY WERE MORE ABOUT THE GENRE IN GENRAL MEANING OUR RESULTS WOULD BE MORE REPRESENTATIVE.
